PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Folic acid, betaine, B vitamins (B2, B6, B12) are micronutrients physiologically involved in the metabolism of homocysteine. A nutritional deficiency of these nutrients could lead to an insufficient metabolism of homocysteine at the intracellular level and an accumulation of the latter in the blood (hyperhomocysteinemia). The supplementary intake of folic acid, betaine, vitamins B6 and B12 contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine. Thanks to the presence of 400 µg of folic acid as 6S-5-methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine salt, 5-MTHF (Quatrefolic®), the intake of Endomox® 600 is also suitable in the pre-conception period (three to a month before conception).
The specific presence of N-acetyl-L-cysteine in the formulation also promotes the passage of excess homocysteine (bound to plasma proteins) from the blood into the cells, where it can be metabolized.

Hyperhomocysteinemia: let’s know it better
Hyperhomocysteinemia indicates high values of homocysteine in the blood than the norm. Homocysteine is an amino acid present in the body in small quantities. It derives from the metabolism of methionine, an essential amino acid that must be introduced with food (especially meat, eggs, milk and legumes).
In healthy people, homocysteine is quickly transformed into other products thanks to the action of vitamins B6 and B12 and folate. The accumulation of this circulating amino acid can be attributed to various causes, mainly of a genetic or nutritional nature. Hyperhomocysteinemia is now considered a strong and independent risk factor for the development of many serious diseases such as:
- Cardiovascular disease (myocardial infarction, coronary atherosclerosis)
- Cerebrovascular disease (cerebral ischemic stroke)
- Peripheral vascular disease (deep vein thrombosis)
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Osteoporosis
- Complications in pregnancy
- Retinal venous occlusions (RVO)
In pregnancy, menopause and in case of oral contraception, plasma homocysteine levels should be kept under control.
The diagnosis of hyperhomocysteinemia can be made with laboratory tests, e.g. with the measurement of plasma levels of total homocysteinemia on a venous blood sample. Normal homocysteine levels in plasma are between 5 and 13 micromoles per liter (µmol / L).
The specific formulation of ENDOMOX® 600 makes it ideal for counteracting hyperhomocysteinemia phenomena. This is thanks to its components:
- N-ACETYLCYSTEINE is known as an antioxidant and donor of sulfhydryl groups (-SH), both of which are involved in the metabolism of homocysteinemia,
- BETAINE contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine,
- VITAMIN B2 contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress,
- VITAMIN B6 contributes to the normal synthesis of cysteine and therefore contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine,
- VITAMIN B12 (as methylcobalamin) contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine,
- FOLATE contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism. The folate present in ENDOMOX® 600 is in the form of 6S-5-methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine salt, 5-MTHF (Quatrefolic®), which is the biologically active form of folate, readily available to the body. This is essential to avoid the accumulation of non-metabolized folic acid in the body and is also ideal in subjects with the MTHFR mutation.
Hyperhomocysteinemia is defeated even in this way…
Changing eating habits and lifestyle, in concert with the intake of specific food supplements such as ENDOMOX® 600, can be useful for preventing hyperhomocysteinemia.
