GESTATIONAL DIABETES

Gestational diabetes mellitus, called so because it is diagnosed for the first time in pregnancy, it is a frequent pathology involving 7-8% of pregnant women, therefore between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy a screening is performed by protocol (which can be anticipated between the 16th and the 18th week for pregnant women with an high risk).

Risk factors for gestational diabetes mellitus are:

  • familiarity with type II diabetes mellitus
  • age of the mother over 35 years
  • BMI> 30
  • DMG in a previous pregnancy
  • Macrosomia in a previous pregnancy
  • ethnic group
  • PCOS

The risks for the mother may involve hypertensive disorders, recurrent infections of the uro-genital tract, instrumental birth or T.C., recurrence of this pathology in a subsequent pregnancy, risk of type II diabetes mellitus in the future.

The risks to the fetus are Macrosomia (birth weight> 4000 gr), intrauterine death, shoulder dystocia, pulmonary immaturity, hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia.

Inositol: the fertility molecule

Considering the phenomenon of insulin resistance at the basis of gestational diabetes, supplementation with Dikirogen Zero is the ideal alternative treatment.

Several studies have shown that the intake of inositol can reduce:

  • the incidence of gestational diabetes with a decrease in glycemia in the OGTT
  • the incidence of complications related to gestational diabetes for the child (fetal macrosomia, neonatal hypoglycemia, respiratory stress syndrome)
  • the need for insulin therapy.

Dikirogen Zero goes to act with a formulation WITHOUT SUGARS, in diseases in which an increase in blood glucose occurs.

An appropriate diet has priority!

A correct diet, in gestational diabetes, certainly has priority.

It is essential to comply with some nutritional rules to check blood sugar levels (always follow the advice of your gynecologist or contact a nutritionist), and constantly make a correct physical activity. Our suggestions are:

  • make at least 5 meals a day (3 main courses, interspersed with 2 snacks).
  • cut off any source of simple sugars (eg white and cane sugar, honey, fructose and drinks that may contain them).
  • take many foods containing fiber (fruits, vegetables, whole wheat).
