MedSafetyWeek2023: a global week to rise awareness of medicines safety
UMC (Uppsala Monitoring Centre, WHO’s collaborating center for international drug monitoring) annually promotes the #MedSafetyWeek campaign to raise awareness of reporting side effects of drugs to ensure consumer safety.
This year’s edition begins on 6 until 12 November and has the aim of promoting, through social media, the awareness of patients and healthcare professionals on the importance of reporting adverse reactions to ensure that safe products are placed on the market.
The aim of safety monitoring is to obtain more information on already known side effects and to uncover others in order to prevent and reduce damage to patients as much as possible.
Reports of suspected side effects are crucial to support patient safety.
